Companion download for your desktop in minutes
The bitfocus companion download takes only a few minutes from your first click to your first key. You do not need to register to grab a build; just pick your operating system below and follow the steps that appear. But if you want the portal to remember your builds and give you a stable login experience, use the login page afterward.
Official build — free, open source
The Bitfocus Companion download ships for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Everything is open source and available at no cost.
How the download setup works
Grab the installer
Download the right package and run it. The app parks in your system tray or menu bar, ready for the first device.
Open the web admin
With Companion running, your browser opens the interface automatically. The whole app config lives there, with no extra files to manage.
Add your first module
Install a companion module from the library, point it at your device, and design a button page to match your workflow.
Download or install — which do you need?
Many teams ask this. The download is a full application that sits on one computer and drives buttons through your Stream Deck, web pages, or virtual surfaces. Install it once and let updates keep it fresh. If you run a large multi-operator venue, download it on each machine, or run the same build on a tiny computer in the rack.
Portable for one rig
One laptop, one Stream Deck. The download build is perfect for small churches, podcast studios, and touring teams.
Headless for racks
Run it and forget it on a small device; it does not even need a monitor. Manage it through the network from your browser.
Keep the download current
Bitfocus Companion improves constantly thanks to the community of volunteers. Watch the build news to catch a feature you need, or grab the latest stable build. Some users prefer a monthly update; others run the testing builds and report the rough edges. Either way, you are never locked in.
